Welcome to Breanna's Story

"I like the idea of trying to help save lives, Now that I'm old enough, I can"
The above quote is from Breanna when the Greeley Tribune did an article on her in 2003.

On Tuesday October 18, 2005 Breanna Rose Was rushed once again to the Urgent care. The week before this she had been there and was at that time diagnosed with dehydration. Tuesday the symptoms still hadn't gotten better, and had even regressed. While at Urgent care Tuesday, they performed some more tests, one being a CAT scan. The results of this showed a tumor in Breanna's brain. She was rushed to Children's Hospital by ambulance, with both her parents along side her. Upon the arrival at Children's Hospital Breanna was unable talk and didn't really comprehend anything. The doctors decided to have her go to the E.R. to allow them to best diagnose her condition. She could recognize different family members but couldn't speak. The tumor was located on and around her frontal lobe of the brain which controls speech. In the E.R. intense tests were done, one of them was an MRI. This was done to better show the doctor's the map of Breanna's brain and the intensity of the tumor. The results of this test were devastating. Showing that the tumor was cancerous and ranged from her brain down her spine. This was a huge disappointment, but her Christ filled family focused on Victory. By the time these results were in, her family and her church family and friends were there for comfort and support. When the results were back, the news was shared with the family and friends. The family was hurt, but turned their fears over to the Lord. They decided they would all pull together, and give their worries, fear, and the entire situation over to God.

Breanna's memorial, will be a celebration. We are asking people to wear bright colors. Our church will have their band playing the type of music teen-agers like. Her viewing is open to everyone and her memorial service is open to everyone. Her burial will be very private. We are asking for only the family to attend the burial, so we can grieve privately.

Breanna's Lastest Update

4-29-08
Dear Family & Friends,

Every year Weld County Relay For Life chooses two people. They choose a survivor to honor and they choose someone to remember. This year they are dedicating the memory of Breanna, in their 2008 cancer walk. I've attached questions we needed to fill out for the Relay.

Thank you for continued prayers. This is by far the most difficult time of our lives, words cannot describe our grief. Please, know how thankful we are for you. :0)

Love,

Tami www.breannasstory.net

A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9

1.) How did you get started with Relay?
Our daughter, Breanna Rose , was diagnosed with stage 4 brain and spinal cancer, October 18th, 2005. As a result of this cancer she lost her vision, November 8th, 2005. My mother, Judy Dickman, was battling stage 3C Inflamatory breast cancer. Our family started to relay, in honor of these two precious people.

2.) Why do you Relay?
Our family continues to relay, in memory of our daughter, Breanna Rose (2-25-08) and mother, Judy Dickman (12-22-07). They will remain forever in our hearts.

3.) What is your favorite Relay memory?
The "Illumination Ceremony" is very moving. To watch the names scroll down, and see how many people have battled and continue to battle this horrible disease, is emotional. This is why we are here. All of the names listed in the illumination ceremony are precious people.

4.) What is the best part of Relay?
Cancer, is a horrible disease. It attacks all ages, children through elderly, healthy and unhealthy. Cancer, doesn't discriminate, it can happen to anyone at anytime. Relay For Life, has turned a negative disease, into a positve way to Fight Back. It is our voice, to stand up and fight back. Relay For Life, has turned a painful disease into a joyful celebration. We are able to honor the people that are battling cancer and pray for healing. We are able to remember those who fought the fight. They did not lose the battle, for cancer may kill the body, but it will never kill the spirit!

5.) Anything else you'd like to add.
We would like to thank Weld County Relay For Life, for dedicating the memory of Breanna Linder'Martinez, to their 2008 Relay. Our precious Breanna, lived only 15 years. She battled cancer for 2 1/2 years. She lost her vision, she went from basketball and volleyball, to chemo, radiation and a wheelchair, she had 7 bone marrow transplants. Breanna, never lost her faith or her positive attitude. Breanna would be thrilled to know, that her memory is being dedicated this year. Our team captain, Craig Smith, said, "Breanna, would say, "Hey, I'm famous!!" He hit the nail right on the head. She would definitely say, "Hey, I'm famous!!" Thank you Relay For Life, for allowing us to celebrate Breanna.
